Destination: Palm Springs Bachelorette Party
– Palm Springs Before the Ring –
My sister Sienna was getting married, and I was her Maid of Honor, so it was my duty to make sure she had one seriously crazy fun last weekend before the wedding, and I succeeded.
Much to my reluctance, Sienna had chosen Palm Springs as her dream Bachelorette weekend; not that I have anything against Palm Springs (I spent an amazing New Year’s there before), but I was dying for Vegas after my two previous alternative bachelorette locations, but it wasn’t my weekend so I went with it. We booked rooms at the Riviera Palm Springs, which has that old Hollywood Glam feel to it with way modern touches. It has an amazing pool area, an awesome spa, and provided an overall great setting for our weekend.
We decorated the room so that it felt festive, and I topped it off with favors for each of the girls. Inside a little box was a mini-champagne, penis straws, shot glass rings, beads to wear out, Starbucks Via instant chillers and coffee, breath mints and some snacks for the morning.
The first night we went out to dinner at TRIO, which is a must for any bachelorette party in the area. Not only is it great for groups, but the host pulled me aside when we were being seated to ask if we were a “Fun” party that wasn’t easily offended, for which I answered of course you guys can do whatever. So after we enjoyed our delicious drinks and awesome food the waiters had a little something extra in store for our bachelorette; a dessert brought out by two waiters each wearing aprons with a penis attached. It had the whole table laughing and provided some pretty amazing photos.
We had asked the waiters about clubs nearby and while they told us about Hunter’s Nightclub some bullshit the doorman was spewing about us not being able to enter with our sashes and beaded necklaces because it promoted marriage and if the gays couldn’t celebrate their marriage then we shouldn’t be able to either made us turn the cabs right around and head to Zelda’s. I mean come on we are a group of girls looking to buy some shots and dance, we aren’t trying to start a political protest with our shot glass diamond rings; so my advice, if you plan on dressing your bride up (which you should my opinion) ditch Hunter’s and head somewhere else.
Zelda’s has a special Friday Night Ladies Night show where we were able to watch a Magic Mike type performance and buy our bride a lap dance for $5. And while it was entertaining I almost peed my pants when Sienna and I conspired to have our little virgin sister pulled on stage and given her first lap dance. Forget about the blushing bride… She was a tomato red Bridesmaid. Seriously worth the $5!
Once the performances are done the dance floor opens up complete with a stripper pole. We had a blast dancing the night away and I don’t think the drinks were too expensive either.
The next day we recovered from the night before with some spa time. My swedish massage was one of the best massages and I remember Sienna really enjoying her facial as well. We went in February and it was a nice warm day, the weather is good in Palm Springs pretty much year around so be sure to make time to lounge by the pool no matter what time of year.
I didn’t make dinner reservations in advance because some of the girls were leaving and new ones were joining the group, so our options were pretty limited with a few of the restaurants being booked. We ended up at the Village Pub. The food was gross, I wouldn’t recommend it, but we had a good time listening to the live band and after dinner headed upstairs to dance. The crowd here was very mixed, a nice group of bachelor party guys, drag queens, and 45 year old creepy locals. As long as your group stays together and will aggressively tell the creeps to back off you’ll have a good time.
We stayed out late drinking and dancing, and the next morning we felt the pain. Palm Springs is about an hour and a half away from where I grew up in Murrieta, leaving all of us with a painful hungover ride home. I had to pull over so the bride-to-be could vomit, but like I always say if someone isn’t puking in the car on the drive home it wasn’t a good bachelorette party!
But in all honesty we had a fabulous time in Palm Springs and it turned out to be an awesome last weekend for Sienna.
That’s my story…
xoxo, andrea
